For Jack’s second birthday, I knew I needed to keep things small and intimate—life is chaotic enough without planning another big event. And honestly? It turned out perfectly!

Jack is totally obsessed with garbage trucks, so naturally, that became the theme. We kept the décor simple but fun, starting with these adorable pastel garbage cans as loot bags. I filled them with little “garbage bags,” which were really just white tissue paper tied with twine, and inside were fun croc charms and hair elastics for the girls—such a cute and easy touch!Boy's 2nd garbage truck birthday TKL

I found the cutest plates and cake toppers (cake was made by my mama) from Josie James - "elevated garbage truck" was my goal LOL. The tablecloth was from The TKL Shop's fall collection, but it's sadly unavailable now. Still, it fit the theme perfectly!

For the backdrop, I used my best party decor hack - The 24x36" IKEA frame! For my kids parties I print custom posters that I design in Canva to match the theme and use it as a backdrop. For this banner I cheated just a little. I purchased a party invite on Etsy and then used that design for my poster, and I love how it turned out!

To finish off my set up, I purchased 2 balloon bouquets from Bubble n Bloom TO. Whether its balloon bouquets, or over the top garlands, they always do a such a great job in matching my theme.

The best part was how much fun Jack had—he even added a few more garbage trucks to his growing collection, which was definitely the highlight of his day.

This small, stress-free celebration was everything we needed, and it just goes to show you don’t need a huge event to make a special day unforgettable.
