We’ve hit some exciting milestones on our home build! The framing is officially complete, and I have to say, my swoops (the bellcurve) turned out just how I pictured it. A few people have asked why I was approving the roof slope (aka my swoops) on site, since that is typically designed by the architect and approved in the planning stage. While this is true, the architect wanted to ensure it was exactly how I envisioned it when I saw it in person - he knew they meant a lot to me! Another exciting milestone - the pool is almost complete! They won't be installing the liner and coping until the Spring, but everything else is dug, prepped (essentially I'm very excited for a hole in ground LOL), and ready for summer 2025 !!

Now that framing is complete, the windows have also been installed, and the brickwork has begun. I'm so happy with how the windows turned out. Window installation is one of my favourites parts of the build, because you can finally see how the light will flow into your home. I'm a sucker for natural light, and I'm loving how the light sweeps through our home at the moment - especially the mudroom (pictured above), pantry/ kitchen, and my bedroom!

For windows, we chose White Dove by Benjamin Moore for the exterior. For the interior, we opted to just have them primed, and they will be painted on site, since I wasn't quite ready to settle on the wall colour just yet. In my last home I chose the interior colour early on and it was fine, however it wasn't a perfect match (I'm sure I'm the only one who ever noticed, but it bothered me!). I also plan on colour drenching our office, so I'd like the interior of that window to match the room. With all that said, stay tuned for my interior window colour picks!

Kitchen

Family RoomPantry - how beautiful is my dutch door?! I can't wait for the hardware to arrive.

Now back to brick! As I mentioned before, the brick this time around isn't very exciting for me from an aesthetic standpoint, because we will be staining it come the spring so currently the house isn't looking very cohesive (I'll keep you posted on the brick stain journey, which I'm very excited about!). The roof has also been waterproofed and the shingling (is that a word?) will begin shortly - the cedar shingles have been delivered and they're just so dreamy! Since the house is now fully waterproofed, we can finally move on to the interior work.

Now, I’ll be honest – the inside isn't too thrilling at first. This phase is all about the not-so-pretty essentials: HVAC, plumbing rough-ins, and electrical work. But hey, it’s all necessary to get to the fun stuff, right?

While the team handles the technical bits, I’ve been hard at work finalizing our millwork. It may seem like we have plenty of time before the January deadline, but with Christmas around the corner, I’m trying to get it all wrapped up ASAP. There are so many spaces to plan for, and the small details really matter to me! I’m also working on choosing our tile selections, which I will share with you soon.

Stay tuned for more updates!
