It's been a minute since I updated you on the house (the last update was in October!), so let's catch up since there has been quite a bit in the works!
First things first, framing, HVAC, electrical (including low voltage - speakers, alarm system etc), and plumbing are complete, which means that we're finally able to start spray foam. The reason I say finally is because this winter has been quite harsh, which has really tested my patience LOL. You need positive temperatures to spray foam, so that the insulation can stick, and because of the cold there hasn't been much happening at the house in the last little bit. Needless to say, we are really happy that this week we're getting a taste of spring. While this part of the build is obviously very important, and a lot goes on before the walls go up, it's a bit of a snore from a design standpoint - hence why all our photos look like the above (but also a moment for my antique pendants eeeeek!!!)
The outside of our home is also getting some love. The brick instal was completed in the fall (the stain will happen in the spring) and the roof is almost done. At the beginning of January they began doing the shingles, which look SO good, but unfortunately we ran into some delays. Not only was it too cold for the roofers to work some days, but we also had a break-in while we were in Florida. They broke down the temporary front door and stole all of the copper that we had purchased for the roof cue: the angry tears.
Besides bad weather and break-ins, everything else has thankfully been smooth sailing. I'm thrilled that we finalized all of our millwork with Bloomsbury - it's going to look sooo good! I'm really proud of myself for adding more colour to this home. To name a few spaces, our mudroom is going to be Dark Olive by Benjamin Moore and Joe's office, which is an extension of our family room, will be Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore. Here's a little peak at the designs - do you spy Harvey's photo above his dog bath and that ladder in the office?!

If you've been following along on Instagram you'll know I also selected all of our tile from SS Tile & Stone spoiler alert: it's beautiful!, and I started searching for our countertop stone. I'd like to say I finalized these as well, however I was able to find everything so quickly, that now I need a few weeks to sit on it and see if I made the right choices - it just came too easily ya know? LOL. One thing that I have yet to finalize is our hardwood, which should've been selected by now, so this is next on my list in terms of selecting finishes, along with our trim.
Since spray foam is now complete, dry wall is set to begin shortly and then the fun stuff can begin. I'm really looking forward to taking you guys along and sharing the progress, along with more exciting pictures, as our finishes start going in.
Stay tuned!
