Hi friends! Let’s talk about the ultimate crowd-pleaser—scalloped potatoes, but not just your regular scalloped potatoes; my moms scalloped potatoes are everyones FAV! This creamy, dreamy dish is the perfect side for any dinner, whether you’re hosting a fancy holiday gathering or just making a cozy meal for your family.

The best part? You don’t need a ton of fancy ingredients or complicated steps. This recipe is as simple as it gets, but the flavour? Absolutely delish. Let’s dive in!

Ingredients:
  • Yellow potatoes
  • 35% cream
  • Garlic salt and/ or salt
Directions:

Step 1: Peel & Slice
Start by peeling your yellow potatoes and slicing them thinly. Think scalloped potato vibes—thin, even slices so they cook perfectly and soak up all that creamy goodness.

Step 2: Season the Potatoes
Layer your sliced potatoes in a pot, sprinkling generously with salt and garlic salt. The seasoning is key here, so don’t hold back!

Step 3: Add the Cream
Pour 35% cream over the potatoes until they’re just covered. You don’t want them completely submerged—just enough cream to coat the potatoes and peek through the top.

Step 4: Simmer to Soften
Place the pot on the stove and bring the cream to a boil. Once it’s bubbling, reduce the heat to medium and let the potatoes simmer until they’re soft and fork-tender.

Step 5: Bake to Perfection
If your pot isn’t oven-safe, transfer the potatoes to a baking dish. Spread them out evenly and pop them into the oven, uncovered, at 350°F for 30-40 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when the top is golden brown and the edges are deliciously crispy.

And there you have it—rich, creamy, garlicky scalloped potatoes that everyone will love. Pair them with roast chicken, steak, or even a fresh salad. Honestly, they’re so good, you might just eat them straight out of the pan (no judgement here, I do it all the time).

Happy cooking (and eating)!
