Home Tour Series: Jack's Nursery & Bathroom

The last bedroom to be revealed on our home tour is Jack's nursery, along with his ensuite. Although I never had a chance to finish the space, I thought I would share anyhow since it was coming together so nicely and personally I think it's the best room in the house apart from the primary suite. I say this because it's a great size, and the bathroom is a dream!

The Nursery

I wanted to keep this room neutral. Not because I have a love for neutral, calm spaces, but because we had been discussing selling our home, so I wanted to keep the next homeowner in mind in case we did choose to sell - Stella and Chloe's bedrooms and bathroom are slathered in feminine wallpaper, so I thought it'd be best to not do anything too crazy in here.

I wanted the room to be monochromatic but with lots of depth and texture. I started with the walls and did a simple treatment to give it a little "somethin" and I love how it turned out. We already had a custom shade from Sun-Brite Drapery in this space, since it used to be our guest room, which worked out nicely. Next I brought in a jute rug which is drool worthy, and a wooden crib for some added warmth; the crib was generously gifted to us by Rooms to Grow. I purchased our rocking chair from the same store when I first became a mama, so I was very excited to partner with them this time around. They're a local shop and their products are not only beautiful, but great quality too! Unfortunately my rocker is no longer available, but they have many other options. The pouf was a HomeSense find, but I linked a similar one below. I love how all of these pieces are different textures, which adds so much warmth to what could be, a cold and sterile space.

Now for the show stopper, the custom artwork by Anthony Ricciardi. I get SO many questions about this piece, and unfortunately it's one of a kind - it really worked out for Jack that his uncle is a talented artist :). I did however find an art print that would give you a similar look and feel.

Since the room is mostly black and white, my hope was to create a gallery wall with various prints over his dresser, but I never got around to it. I linked a few of the prints that I had picked out below, along with anything else that is still available.

The Ensuite

Jack's bathroom was essentially a blank canvas. When we built our home this room and ensuite were given the least attention, because no one was really using it. With that said, I selected very simple and neutral finishes for the space, so I could really do anything I wanted when the time came. The only thing I put effort into was the vanity. I designed it alongside Bloomsbury Fine Cabinetry, and I love the shelf along the bottom for baskets. Now that it was time to design the space for my baby boy, my first instinct was to shiplap or wallpaper the walls, but according to my husband it didn't fit the budget, so onto plan B LOL.

A few years ago I came across the Vintage Ships Mural in Jillian Harris' sons bathroom, and I have wanted to use it ever since; Jack's bathroom was the perfect opportunity! The mural makes SUCH an impact. My favourite thing about it, is how it reflects in the mirror - it looks like art! The mirror is a HomeSense find and the sconces are linked below.

Just like his room, the space is monochromatic, so I brought in some warmth through the seagrass shade, the baskets and the stools next to the tub (these were also a HomeSense find). I love that the bathroom design is an extension of his bedroom and the two flow so nicely into one another.

As I mentioned earlier, these two spaces weren't fully complete, but they were about 90% there. I hope you found some inspiration here for your next project, or simply enjoyed this little tour.
